Shelter Assistant

Empower Tehama is a nonprofit organization in rural Northern California. Our mission is to promote healthy relationships and social change in our communities.

 

We offer a broad menu of services for individuals and families affected by domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, sexual assault, human trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation of children, child abuse or crime. We have a 24-hour hotline, a drop-in center, a counseling center, provide legal services, emergency housing, housing assistance and school-based services, including education and awareness.

 

Empower Tehama seeks an experienced Shelter Assistant to join the team of a dynamic and growing organization in Red Bluff, CA. The ideal candidate will have two years of housing or case management experience. The Shelter Assistant is responsible for the operation and security of Empower Tehama housing facilities including shelter and transitional housing. This position is part of an overall team that provides a wide range of shelter services including maintaining the cleanliness of shelter and housing units and the documentation of services provided to clients.

 

Duties include but are not limited to preparing rooms for new clients, accompaniment and/or transportation to shelter or housing clients as directed; mentoring and supporting clients in developing everyday life skills; facilitating housing meetings; process donations, supplies, and food; documentation of services provided to clients and other job related duties as assigned. BASIC FUNCTION: Prepare, cook, bake and serve a variety of food in large quantity; prepare assigned food serving area and perform cashiering duties in the sale of food items to students and staff; maintain cleanliness of food service facilities.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Principal, the TeLA Paraprofessional assists teachers and students in lessons and other classroom activities in addition to providing one-on-one or small group tutoring.

JOB SUMMARY:
This is a nonexempt position responsible for performing venipuncture on patients. Prepare equipment to efficiently collect blood products. Perform venipuncture, arterial and capillary punctures on patients as directed by physician and following medical practice protocols related to safety, infection control, and confidentiality. Enter data into computer. Assist donor before, during, and after donation. Employee will instruct patient on specimen collection procedures. Clean/sterilize equipment, instruments, and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures. The Phlebotomist will inventory supplies and place orders to ensure adequate supplies for procedures.

 

Job Qualifications:
Equipment operated; Blood draw equipment including syringes, tubes, bandages, and other appropriate supplies.
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent along with graduation from an accredited medical vocational institution with phlebotomy course diploma. A minimum one year of phlebotomy experience is required and medical practice experience is helpful.
Physical: Involves standing six to eight hours per day, walking, bending, and reaching. Employee must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies and equipment and help with patient transport and transfer. Job causes occasional stress when dealing with priorities and anxious patients.

Job Description: Provide direct care to developmentally disabled adults in Licensed Residential Facilities or to those who live in their own homes. Provide basic living assistance, housekeeping, meals, companionship and assistance with activities.

 

Position Requires:

  • Employer is willing to train the right person, previous experience not required.
  • Must be 18 years of age to apply.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to pass DOJ fingerprinting and FBI fingerprinting background check.
  • No felonies or serious misdemeanors (DUI’s).
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Looking for someone with patience and compassion.

Shifts: Day (7am‐3:30p), Swing (11am‐7:30p), Nights (11pm to 7:30am)

  • EcoShell, Inc. Is the premier grinder of walnut shells producing diverse products such as polishing and blasting materials and pet bedding materials. Eco-Shell has an immediate opening for General Laborers to join their team. These full-time positions are responsible for filling 60lb bags, weighing product, general clean-up, wrapping pallets, shrink covering pallets and other duties as assigned. Can lead to forklift training.

Position Requires:

  • Ability to lift up to 60+ pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Ability to use a scale and measure product accurately
  • Must be 18 years or older to apply. Must be self-motivated and reliable and able to work in all types of weather.
